Lumette Terms of Use

Effective date: August 14, 2026 · VNRI LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("Lumette," "we," "us")

These Terms govern your use of the Lumette mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, subscribing, or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is offered to users located in the United States who are at least 18 years old. For an iOS download, these Terms supplement the Apple Standard EULA; they do not replace mandatory app-store terms.

Please read Section 3 carefully. Lumette reports information published by third-party sources, with attribution. It is an information tool — not medical, health, safety, or purchasing advice — and the underlying data may be incomplete or out of date. Always read the actual product label. Section 12 contains a binding arbitration agreement and class-action waiver that affect how disputes are resolved, with a 30-day opt-out.

1. The Service

Lumette lets you scan consumer products and view information aggregated from publicly available third-party sources, including: product and ingredient data and revision histories (Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts, Open Products Facts), brand-ownership records (Wikidata and public reporting, some reviewed by our staff), regulatory list status (EU CosIng, California Proposition 65, IARC, EU REACH, FDA GRAS), and public drinking-water data (U.S. EPA). Each surface in the app identifies its source.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must be 18 or older and a U.S. resident. You're responsible for the accuracy of your account information and the security of your sign-in credentials. You may delete your account at any time in the app; deletion is permanent.

3. Information disclaimer — the heart of these Terms

Lumette is a mirror, not a judge, and not your doctor.

4. Subscriptions

Lumette requires a paid subscription. The price, billing period, and any free-trial or introductory offer are shown on the purchase screen using the terms supplied by your app store before you subscribe. Prices may change prospectively with notice. Payment is charged to your Apple App Store or Google Play account. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel in your App Store / Play Store account settings — deleting the app or your Lumette account does not cancel billing. Refund eligibility and processing are governed by applicable law and the relevant app store's policies.

5. Your content

You may submit reviews, product photos, missing-product information, and change reports ("User Content"). You retain ownership and grant VNRI LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, use, display, reproduce, modify for formatting and moderation, and distribute your User Content as needed to operate the Service. You represent your User Content is accurate to your knowledge, lawful, and doesn't infringe anyone's rights. We may moderate, decline, or remove User Content at our discretion. Reviews are visible to other paid members alongside your display name. Account deletion removes your reviews and submitted photos; de-identified factual product data created from an approved submission may remain in the catalog.

6. Acceptable use and community rules

Don't: misuse, probe, or disrupt the Service; scrape or bulk-extract data; reverse engineer the app except where the law forbids that restriction; submit false, promotional, or off-topic reviews or reports; post links or personal contact information; impersonate others; post threats, hate, sexual content, or profanity; use the Service to harass any person or to make defamatory statements about any company; or circumvent the subscription. Automated filters screen clear spam and objectionable content. Members can report reviews and block the reviewer; repeated independent reports hold content for admin review. We may remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Open data attribution

Product data is derived in part from the Open Food Facts family of databases, available under the Open Database License (ODbL); contributor content is available under the Database Contents License. Brand-ownership data is derived in part from Wikidata (CC0). Our compilation, software, and editorial content are © VNRI LLC; nothing in these Terms restricts your rights in the underlying open data under its own licenses.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including the Lumette name, firefly mark, app design, and editorial ingredient explanations, is owned by VNRI LLC or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on devices you own, for personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the app store's usage rules.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms, legal risk, or discontinuation of the Service. Any refund eligibility is governed by applicable law and the relevant app store's policies. Sections 3, 5, 7, 10–14 survive termination.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service or the data it reports will be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or error-free. Some states do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) VNRI LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill; (b) our total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50; and (c) we are not liable for decisions you make in reliance on information shown in the Service. Some states do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Dispute resolution — arbitration and class-action waiver

Informal resolution first. Before filing a claim, you and we agree to try to resolve any dispute informally: write to support@getlumette.com with a description of the dispute, and allow 60 days for resolution.

Binding arbitration. Except as provided below, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. Arbitration may be conducted by videoconference or, if in person, in your county of residence. Each party bears its own attorneys' fees except where the applicable rules or law provide otherwise; we will pay arbitration filing and administration fees that exceed what a court filing would have cost you.

Class-action waiver. Disputes will be arbitrated only on an individual basis. Neither you nor we may participate in a class, consolidated, or representative action, and the arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over any representative proceeding. If this waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, that claim (and only that claim) shall proceed in court.

Carve-outs. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either party may seek injunctive relief in court for infringement or misuse of intellectual property.

30-day opt-out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@getlumette.com with the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out" from your account email within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Opting out does not affect any other provision.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming and applicable federal law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. For any dispute not subject to arbitration, you and we consent to exclusive jurisdiction and venue in the state and federal courts of Wyoming, except that you may litigate in your home state's small-claims court as provided above.

14. App-store terms and general provisions

VNRI LLC—not Apple or Google—is responsible for the Service, its content, maintenance, support, and addressing claims about it. You must comply with the applicable app-store and third-party service terms when using Lumette. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Lumette. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the Apple Standard EULA and may enforce it as provided there.

These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and applicable app-store terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced in the app, and continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
